Las Vegas

“What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas..!! Except herpes, that shit will follow you home” And that’s about it for the Hangover citations. 🙂

I had never been in Las Vegas before, neither had my three friends who I should meet at our hotel, the Treasure Island. It was with them I was to spend almost all of the final chapters of my epic journey across the land of the of the free and the home of the brave. But let’s not get carried away by the sound of the dying swan. After all this is Vegas, a place people are supposed to have fun, regardless of what happens, right?!

Vegas is a crazy place, for several reasons. First of all, it is build in the middle of the f***ing desert. As I was driving south from Zion National Park through Arizona at a leisurely 80 MPH / 128 km/h, the temperature climbed to a whopping 115° F / 46° C. The air conditioning could barely keep up with the steel melting heat. It was just waltzing into my car, as if there were no windows and no roof at all! There was a construction on the opposite side of the interstate, causing a traffic jam: at least two miles of trucks and cars just melting in the sun…

Luckily though, as I got into the city, the temperature wasn’t 115° F anymore, it had climbed to a nuclear 123° F / 51° C!! But do you know the craziest part of it? It never runs out of water, ever!!! This city is on 24 hours a day, seven days a week and you could shower the entire time in all of the hotel rooms and the water would still keep on coming…!!!

And then there is the experience of Vegas itself. It’s a crazy place. The only reason it even exists is for people to come and gamble and party night and day. Casino after casino after casino. 😀 It is fun, as long as you don’t mind how much money you’re gonna lose or set a budget and are able to stop once that money has flown down into the neverending deep pockets of the casinos – the multitude of black holes. 🙂

Ceasars Palace is huge, and not only is it a hotel and a casino, it’s an entire shopping mall, as well, called the Forum Shops. It looks like a town in itself and the ceiling is painted like a sky… You don’t have to look around very far or very long in this city to understand that ultimately, the bank always wins. So don’t go to Vegas believing that you’re gonna break the bank and go home a millionaire.

But it doesn’t matter, as long as you are aware of it. So set your budget and have fun until your budget runs out. 🙂 You can always watch other people lose money afterwards. 😀

In order to be in accordance with Las Vegas’ unwritten law, “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, I won’t publish more details of the two nights we spent their on this blog (hahaaa!).

However, if you do get the chance to be awake during the day, walk down and up the Strip and enjoy the big buildings and attractions, such as the Eiffel Tower and the New York-New York casino and roller coaster.

Le Rêve – The Dream

Just like New York, Las Vegas isn’t just known for it’s crazy nightlife, but also for the spectacular shows. If you ever get a chance to see one, I doubt you’ll be disappointed, regardless of your choice.

We went to see “Le rêve – The Dream” at the Wynn Casino and it was fascinating. Well, yeah, but fascinating alone doesn’t really do it justice. It was entertaining, beautiful, intriguing, thrilling, athletic, elegant and cadenced, completed with a touch of humor.

I have no intentions to build up a new Yelp, but I’d gave it a five star rating anytime!

After having seen so many people, so much action, so much life, it was time for us to get going and hit…Grand Canyon and Death Valley National Parks…^^
